Adjuah Cleare
Artist Bio
I am a self-taught abstract artist working with acrylic on glass, fabric, and paper, exploring form and color as expressions of the natural world. My practice is guided by a lifelong fascination with flowers and organic structures, responding intuitively to shape, movement, and vibrancy. Rather than depicting nature literally, I translate what I observe into abstract compositions that reflect how growth, rhythm, and energy are felt rather than seen.
My work is deeply informed by my academic and professional background in agriculture and the natural sciences. Holding degrees in Plant and Soil Science and Biology with an emphasis on agriculture, I approach abstraction with an awareness of structure, interdependence, and transformation. These principles influence how I layer color and form, allowing each piece to evolve organically, much like a living system.
The concept of Art in Agriculture has shaped my practice for many years, particularly through my experience at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), where I was introduced to AgriTourism and the broader cultural narratives surrounding agricultural life. While traditional agricultural art often focuses on representational imagery—fields, crops, and landscapes—I seek to evoke agriculture through abstraction, using texture, movement, and color to capture its essence rather than its appearance.
Through my work, I aim to bridge science and creativity, honoring the agricultural roots that continue to shape my identity. Each piece is an exploration of growth, balance, and connection, inviting viewers to engage with agriculture not as a static subject, but as a living, evolving force that influences how we see and experience the world.
