Jim Foringer

Artist Bio

Jim Foringer is a pilot and an artist working in oil and acrylic whose paintings are rooted in observation and guided by intuition. After returning to painting later in life, he developed a focused and consistent studio practice centered on light, color, and atmosphere.

Working from reference images and personal memory, Foringer allows each painting to evolve through layered surfaces, texture, and subtle shifts in tone. His approach values process as much as outcome, embracing both control and spontaneity in the work.

Through his paintings, Foringer seeks to capture quiet moments and familiar scenes in a way that encourages viewers to slow down, look closely, and connect with a sense of calm and reflection.

Artist Statement

I work in both oil and acrylic, selecting each medium for what it allows me to express in a given moment. While my paintings are rooted in observation, they are ultimately guided by feeling. Light, color, and atmosphere shape my decisions as much as the subject itself.

After returning to painting later in life, my practice has become a meaningful and steady ritual. I often begin with reference images, then allow intuition to lead the process through layering, texture, and subtle shifts in color. I value the balance between control and freedom, letting each painting evolve naturally rather than forcing a predetermined outcome.

Painting, for me, is a way to slow down and reconnect—with memories, places, and quiet moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through my work, I hope to invite viewers to pause, look closely, and experience a sense of calm, familiarity, and personal reflection.
