His Excellency Wendall K. Jones
Ambassador Wendall K. Jones is a man of many hats: diplomat, journalist, media entrepreneur, and passionate self-taught artist. Born in The Bahamas, he launched his professional journalism career in 1972 with The Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas, eventually building the media powerhouse Jones Communications—comprising Radio Love 97 FM, The Bahama Journal, JCN Television, and publishing ventures. In March 2022, he was appointed Ambassador of The Bahamas to the United States.
Yet amid his career in media and diplomacy, his love for painting endured. Drawing on his teenage years, Ambassador Jones developed his visual practice in tandem with his professional life. He is entirely selftaught, having refined his skills through observation, experimentation, and studying the masters of impressionism, abstraction, and realism. His body of work spans impressionistic, abstract, and realistic styles. With multilayered brushstrokes, he creates delicate “tapestries of colour and light,” striking a balance between abstract expression and visual lyricism.
His exhibition record includes a show at the Central Bank Art Gallery in The Bahamas, where his artwork was recognized for deconstructing the visible world into ethereal visual essences. He also held an Art Exhibition at the Organization of American States (OAS) in 2023. Ambassador Jones’s art is held by collectors at home and abroad, and is appreciated as a parallel expression of his lifelong curiosity, discipline, and aesthetic sensibility.
Through his creative work and public service, Ambassador Jones exemplifies how art and diplomacy can unite, offering viewers access to his enduring artistic spirit and profound vision.
