Dr. Desirée Cox (MD, MPhil, PhD)

Artist Bio

A brushstroke before a stethoscope: Dr. Desirée Cox (MD, MPhil, PhD) is a medical doctor, polymath and Rhodes Scholar who paints healing into the future. An author, creative and trailblazer in the longevity and regenerative health field, her work explores the deep connections between creativity, longevity science, and the regenerative processes that shape living systems. Working at the intersection of art, medicine, and human possibility, she examines renewal as both a biological and creative phenomenon — informed by insights from aging pathways, morphogenesis, and the subtle signaling dynamics that govern adaptation and repair.

Her paintings and mixed media works evoke the language of regeneration — layering, emergence, and transformation — reflecting the rhythms of cellular communication and the evolving architecture of life. Through her practice, she invites viewers to consider healing as a multidimensional process that unfolds across biological, emotional, and societal systems.

Alongside her artistic career, Dr. Cox is a global leader in longevity and regenerative health and a founder of initiatives advancing responsible access to next-generation therapies. Her scientific perspective — shaped by work spanning translational medicine and systems thinking — informs an artistic vision grounded in inquiry and exploration.

Dr. Cox has earned degrees from McGill University (Canada) where she studied quantum chemistry, Oxford University (UK) where she trained as a medical doctor, and Cambridge University (UK) where she received her Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and PhD degrees. She is the first Rhodes Scholar from The Bahamas and the first woman Rhodes Scholar from the British Caribbean. She has been honored by Oxford University and is an affiliate member of Rutgers University’s Graduate Studies Faculty. The Bahamas Government honored Dr. Cox at the 40th Independence Celebrations by issuing a 70-cent stamp into circulation bearing her photograph.

Her artwork has been exhibited internationally and featured in publications including British Vogue, House & Garden, and Tatler, with works held in private collections around the world. She lives and works between Nassau and New York, continuing to explore how art can illuminate new ways of understanding health, regeneration, and human flourishing.
